What is My Relationship to Canadian History? Time We Share

As a first step toward envisioning our active engagement in the Truth and Reconciliation event at UBC on September 18th and beyond, this session aims to enhance our awareness of how we are related to Canadian history both personally and collectively.

This session will present a timeline that documents major historical events involving Aboriginal students at UBC, while locating the events in institutional, provincial, and national contexts. Through interactive activities, we will discuss how we all, regardless of where we are from, are part of Canadian history in a locally specific manner. We will also explore roles that each of us, as faculty, staff, or student at UBC, may be able to play in the history that we share on the unceded territory of the Musqueam people today.
